In 2018 the Manteca Police Department combined the Gang Suppression Unit (GSU) with the Street Crimes Unit (SCU) and the combined unit is known as SCU. SCU identifies, documents and assists in the prosecution of gang members and their associates accused of gang related crimes.

Documenting gang members and their associates aids in the prosecution of these individuals when they are accused of gang related criminal activity. This provides the opportunity for significant sentencing enhancements in criminal proceedings. SCU conducts regular probation and parole searches of known gang members and their associates. They also assist other law enforcement agencies with their investigations involving gang members from our jurisdiction. The gang officers are members of the San Joaquin County Gang Task Force.

SCU provides training and information to parent groups, students counseling organizations, schools and other community organizations concerning gang awareness and identification. If you would like to have SCU provide training for your organization or neighborhood watch, please contact or call Sergeant Rob Armosino at rarmosino@ci.manteca.ca.us or (209) 456-8152 for further information.
