Organic Waste AB 1826
AB 1826 is mandatory recycling of organic waste to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere. Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions resulting from the decomposition of organic wastes in landfills have been identified as a significant source of emissions contributing to global climate change. Reducing the amount of organic materials sent to landfills and increasing the production of compost and mulch is the goal. As of September 2020, businesses and multi-family complexes will be required to recycle their organic waste if they generate 2 cubic yards of commercial solid waste per week or more. City of Manteca provides orange carts/bins for commercial food-waste and green carts/bins for commercial green-waste.
The City of Manteca offers a variety of organic recycling services. Call (209) 456-8440 for more information.
Recycling AB 341
Recycling bins are for co-mingled recycling.
AB 341 is the Mandatory Commercial Recycling Law that was created in hopes of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by diverting commercial solid waste to recycling efforts and by expanding opportunities for additional recycling services and recycling manufacturing facilities in California. The Law requires any business that generates 4 cubic yards or more of commercial solid waste per week; or a multi-family complex of 5 units or more to reuse, reduce, recycle, or otherwise divert materials from the landfill.
The City of Manteca provides commercial recycling to businesses with bins ranging in size from 2 cubic yards to 6 cubic yards. We can arrange pick-up service once a week, or up to five times per week, depending on your needs. This is done at NO CHARGE to the business operator, provided that the recycling remains clean and free of contamination.
Businesses with large amounts of wood and metal may contact our office to have drop-box service for this recycling.
